Research Associate, Software Developer – (Mar 2019 – Jun 2020)
OSDAG is primarily constructed using Python and other Python-based FLOSS tools such as PyQt, OpenCascade, PythonOCC, and svgwrite. It utilizes SQLite for managing steel section databases. OSDAG is currently under development and a beta version of Osdag including some shear connection design modules has been released.
- Developed and optimized the backend code for Open Steel Design and Graphics (OSDAG) utilizing Python.
- Improved the Python code, resulting in a reduction of runtime to create modules from 20 minutes to 0.33 minutes.
- Collaborated with a software development team of 7 to regularly create and deliver new versions of the software.
- Partnered closely with the Ministry of Steel and industry leaders to organize the India-Japan Steel Seminar at IIT Bombay.
- Developed algorithms to generate CAD components for various steel design structure modules.
- Implemented the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, resulting in an acceleration of team performance.
- Mentored interns to assist them in achieving team-centric goals and delivering project deliverables on time.
- Organized workshops to train and certify industry professionals and college students on our software.
- Created OSDAG spoken tutorials, conducted workshops, and seminars to train employees and students.
