Design of Power Plant for Aircraft

SupervisorProf. B Roy

Course Name – Design of Power Plant for Aircraft

Project Name – Chevron Nozzle Design

Work –

  • Designed a Chevron nozzle for suppressing noise in a subsonic passenger airliner with 95% nozzle efficiency.
  • Studied the working of chevron nozzle and implemented saw tooth concept of chevron nozzle in our design.

Project Name – Propeller Blade Design

Work –

  • Designed a propeller for high altitude distributed propeller aircraft and used CATIA V-5 for CAD model.
  • Considered NASA Pathfinder and designed propeller for the same, which requires 4.5 kW engine.

Project Name – Powerplant Design

Work –

  • Modelled turbofan engine for a supersonic cruise missile, which is cruising at 1km altitude and having a range of 3000 km.
  • Computed the parameters like efficiencies, pressure ratio, temperature ratio, and velocity at each component.

Project Name – Intake Design for Sub-sonic Business Jet

Work –

  • Framed medium bi-pass ratio intake for Learjet 70/75 cruising at Mach 0.75 speed and altitude of 16000 m.
  • Calculated approach area, engine intake, fan-LPC intake, and exit properties and the total length of the intake duct.
