First-Time Product Owner Interview? Here are 5 tips to start with your work.

  1. Review the product backlog: As a new product owner, it’s important to understand your product’s current state and its long-term vision. You’ll be making decisions about what features to prioritize, which ones are essential and which are optional.
  2. Set your objectives Once you have a good idea of the product’s current state, it’s time to set some initial goals for what you want to achieve. It helps to start with a high-level goal, such as “we want to improve this feature”.
  3. Create a plan for execution Once you have your goals set, it’s time to create a plan for achieving those goals. It’s important to be realistic about how long it will take to get there. The plan should include a set of milestones and the timescales for completing them.
  4. Break down the plan into discrete steps This is where you use estimation skills to break down each step in the plan into tasks that can be tackled one by one. It’s important to start small and build up as you go.
  5. Keep track of your progress It’s important that you measure your progress regularly and update the plan when necessary. Any changes to the plan should be fully discussed with other members of the team, so everyone is on the same page about what needs to be done.
